McDonald’s France and France Travail have signed a regional cooperation agreement to strengthen job opportunities and professional training for jobseekers in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur region.
The partnership, formalised on 16 May in Rognac by Pascal Blain, Regional Director of France Travail Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, and Sylvain Allouche, Human Resources Director of McDonald’s France, aims to tackle recruitment challenges in the hospitality sector while supporting employment for those most distant from the job market.
According to the 2024 France Travail Labour Needs Barometer, more than 61% of businesses in the restaurant industry report recruitment difficulties in the region, particularly along the coast. Despite these challenges, McDonald’s network of 127 franchised outlets in the South employs nearly 7,000 people and continues to expand its workforce.
To address staffing shortages and better support jobseekers, McDonald’s and its franchisees have introduced measures to improve recruitment practices, increase flexibility, and enhance working conditions. The newly signed agreement seeks to build on those efforts by sharing best practices and deepening the collaboration with France Travail.
The initiative aligns with France Travail’s commitment to full employment and social inclusion, as enshrined in recent legislation. The fast-food industry is considered an inclusive employment sector, offering real opportunities for integration through initiatives such as CV-free recruitment, immersive work experiences, and on-the-job training programmes supported by France Travail Pro.
This agreement also reinforces McDonald’s involvement in initiatives like apprenticeships, mentoring for young graduates from disadvantaged backgrounds, and “off-site” recruitment events, with targeted support from France Travail advisors to meet local hiring needs. Both parties expressed hope that this regional partnership could serve as a model for expansion across other parts of France.
