The principality of Monaco is set to host its first festival dedicated to artificial intelligence in cinema, with the launch of the AI Film Festival Monaco in June.
The two day event will take place on 9 and 10 June at One Monte Carlo, shortly after the internationally renowned Monaco Grand Prix, positioning it within one of the busiest periods on the Riviera’s cultural calendar.
Organisers say the festival will bring together filmmakers, producers, digital artists, researchers and technology experts from around the world, alongside representatives from government and industry. The event aims to explore how artificial intelligence is reshaping filmmaking, from AI generated imagery to new forms of storytelling.
The programme will include film screenings, industry discussions and artistic showcases, as well as keynote sessions led by figures from both the cinema and technology sectors. A central feature will be the AI Film Awards, recognising achievements in AI driven storytelling and technical innovation.
Among the planned highlights is a 24 hour filmmaking challenge where participants will collaborate to create original AI generated films within a single day. The festival will also host an outdoor beach screening followed by a creative gathering designed to connect filmmakers and technology professionals.
The event is intended to examine the changing relationship between human creators and artificial intelligence, as advances in generative tools continue to influence the global creative economy.
The festival will also feature contributions from industry professionals including Nick Shoolingin Jordan and Anthony Bourached, as well as filmmakers and digital creators working across emerging media.
Technology companies such as Microsoft and Alibaba Cloud are expected to be represented, highlighting the growing intersection between cinema and advanced computing.
The festival aims to establish Monaco as a meeting point for discussions on the future of film, where artistic expression and technological innovation increasingly overlap.
