The BWT Alpine Formula One Team arrives in Monaco for the eighth round of the 2025 FIA Formula One World Championship aiming to convert recent signs of progress into a strong result at one of the sport’s most iconic circuits.
Following a detailed review of last weekend’s Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix at Imola, the team reported encouraging performance data from both of its drivers despite contrasting strategies and tyre conditions. The analysis pointed to competitive pace and potential across both cars, particularly as rookie Franco Colapinto made his debut appearance with the team.
Colapinto impressed with a strong start to his Formula One campaign, gaining valuable experience and building confidence despite a challenging weekend that saw him qualify in 16th and narrowly miss out on points after an untimely Safety Car period. The Argentine driver is set to continue in the car this weekend and is focusing on steady progression at a venue notorious for its narrow streets and unforgiving barriers.
Team-mate Pierre Gasly expressed optimism heading into Monaco, citing a positive feeling in qualifying trim at Imola. With qualifying performance often pivotal in the Principality due to limited overtaking opportunities, Alpine is placing strong emphasis on securing a top-10 grid position to maximise its chances in Sunday’s race.
In a change to the usual race format, this year’s Monaco Grand Prix will feature a mandatory two-stop strategy, requiring teams to run three different tyre compounds. Alpine hopes this variation in approach could open up strategic opportunities and improve prospects for overtaking during the race.
The team is aiming to continue its momentum and maintain both drivers in contention for points as the season approaches its midpoint.
